Philip Stythe (A level Bio, GCSE Science)

Bio

Founder of Oxbridge tuition services (2022)


Philip has been teaching GCSE Science and A level Biology for the past nine years having completed his teacher training at Cambridge University in 2015. Philip has worked in schools and with students from all over the world, including Portugal, China, Oman and Thailand, he specialises in working with foreign language learners and completed his Master's degree researching science teaching strategies for EAL learners. 


Many of Philip's students have moved on to achieve places at the top UK universities studying medicine, engineering and dentistry while others have achieved scholarships to private schools and academic awards from the various exam boards.


Philip is also a licensed private pilot, classic car enthusiast and two time marathon runner.

Dr Alistair Furze (A level Chem, GCSE Science)

Bio

Alistair read Chemistry at the University of Oxford, his Part II research project being the synthesis of an isotopically labelled glycine based molecule for 4 qubit quantum computing experiments. Alistair then completed my MPhil and PhD at the University of Manchester researching techniques for developing emulsion templated articular scaffolds to promote joint cartilage repair.


Alistair has taught both Chemistry and Physics to A-Level and supported numerous candidates in their applications to Oxbridge throughout the initial application and interview preparation. Alistair believes that understanding is fundamental to examination success combined with effective evidence based revision and study strategies.
